I can’t recommend Philip Martyn Design enough
A little over a month ago I spoke with a friend who runs his own project management business, Philip Parkinson from Philip Martyn Design and told him to come and look at a bedroom in my house that was the only room that I hadn’t face-lifted since moving in in 2010. It was still painted in the original colours and I had a couple of free-standing wardrobes and chests in there and a double bed for when my sons came to stay (once every blue moon).
I had this idea of creating a neat storage space to facilitate my wife’s clothing and shoes in the main but to also have the effect of a walk in wardrobe. I could still put a pop-up bed in the space created. I was influenced by the Japanese style of minimalism and function.
The plan involved working around the Skytta sliding door system from IKEA. So on a fag packet I drew with a pen my idea for the room, Phil came over to have a look and said he could make this work.
He had a team of quality tradesmen working for him and he could deliver this project in a space of 2-3 weeks. He got back to me with a price which I thought was reasonable albeit not cheap, but assured me there was a lot of work involved and he had some good over-fussy tradesmen working for him. I would need a new suspended ceiling, new lighting, sockets removed and replaced, then the plasterer would come and do his bit followed by the joiner and painters on scheduled formats all working like clockwork to deliver my dream creation. As the days unfolded the reality of what was happening started to set in.
The joiner (James the Kiwi) whose work is simply outstanding had it all worked out and worked at an astonishing pace. Dave the painter worked every day of the week and Luke the electrician was prompt and tidy.
The budget took a bit of a re-visit as more wood and paint would be needed as a last-minute adjustment to the design was suggested. Phil however, looked after me with this and I made four scheduled instalments with the final one on completion. The final outcome blew me away and I can’t recommend Philip Martyn Design enough and in just over 4 weeks it was all done.
So if you have an idea for something, no matter how big or small then they are your team.
